TRUDY WOODCOCK

Trudy Woodcock, originally from Canada, has made Mérida, Yucatán her home since 2001. She continues to delve into the mysteries of the Maya while defining, accepting, and following her life's purpose. Part of that purpose is to act as a bridge between the vast knowledge of the ancient Maya and today's spiritual seeker.  Always looking for ways to introduce others to the magic and excitement she found in the Yucatán, Trudy has recently joined forces with Miguel Angel Vergara and Erik Solis to create Casa K'in, dedicated to the Sacred Maya Teachings and the preservation of the Maya traditions, culture, and environment in the Yucatán.

MIGUEL ANGEL VERGARA

Miguel Angel is a Maya Priest and Master Teacher who lives and works in Yucatán, Mexico. He studied with Maya Elder Vincente Martín for 17 years and continues to work with the Elders and Priests who are keeping the Maya Sacred Wisdom very much alive today. He was a director at Chichen Itza for four years and has written books and given lectures and conferences on the Maya Sacred Knowledge throughout North America and Europe.

Miguel Angel teaches us how to connect with the Maya Masters of Light who are still at the sacred sites ready to guide us today as in ancient times. Going to the source of the Maya knowledge: to the ceremonies, rituals, mantras, sacred books, pyramids, temples, stele, pottery, paintings, sculptures, and oral traditions that are available today, Miguel Angel finds the essence of their knowledge and then teaches it in a heart-centered style that connects rapidly and profoundly with his students. He humbly and sincerely weaves a path to the pure authentic essence of the Maya cosmology and creates a space with beautiful ceremonies and stories where you can transform yourself and find your true Spiritual Path.

Miguel Angel Vergara’s mission is to share the Maya Sacred Teachings through the study of their science, art, philosophy, and religion. He currently leads spiritual tours throughout the Maya world and conducts workshops and seminars on the Maya Wisdom in Mexico, USA, Canada, and Europe. He can be reached at miguelangel@casakin.org .

ERIK SOLIS

Erik Solis (1966 - 2010) Erik was born in Yucatán and was very proud of his Maya roots. He grew up gaining much of his knowledge from nature as well as from his family and after graduating from university continued his education by working with many Maya teachers, elders, healers, and Maya X-men and H-men (Shamans). Erik generously shared all he learned and strongly believed in teaching by example. He was a Maya Warrior, traveling on his path, sharing his personal experiences and vast knowledge while helping guide people to the awakening of 2012. His physical presence will be very much missed but Erik will always be a part of the Casa K'in team, working with us now in other dimensions.

JUAN JOSE PEREZ

coming soon

We felt like we went back in time... spending the day with Miguel, going through the ceremonies with Trudy and Miguel, exploring the ruins with Eric. The entire journey was magical and out of the ordinary... we always felt cared for, safe and adventurous at the same time. We’ll do another one next year for sure!

Michele Maggiora    Artist Commentary

I have been an artist since three years old. Throughout my life I’ve wanted to express to share my feelings of the world and of myself in it.  My journey through careers, travel and personal expression have woven  a tapestry on my path as a seeker, exploring spiritual views and philosophies from Buddhism, the Spirit of Indigenous cultures, core Shamanism, New Age, yoga, meditation and  Quantum physics …each offering  a thread to my tapestry.

I’ve been a teacher of visual art in printmaking, drawing, painting and design yet the truth of it was I could not express through visual art, the profound inner consciousness that I was beginning to experience.  I was able to sell my prints and paintings, those that were commercially viable, but that did not reach my core, did not express what was deeply emerging in my heart and soul.  I felt pleased but not nourished so I used other art forms such as poetry and writing in the hopes to express the growing awareness within.

About seven years before finding the Yucatan with my husband, and being drawn to this magical land, I lived in Oaxaca.  There a seer and healer told me that I would someday meet the jaguar people, my people and connect with the ancient wisdom that would be a sort of culmination of my journey.

In 2006, my husband and I traveled throughout Mexico to find our place.  We found the Yucatan or it found us.  Shortly after our move to this magical land, I met Trudy and through her, Don Miguel Angel and began a friendship and study with my teacher.

This humble and highly gifted man began to teach me of the messages of the ancient Maya.  He brought life to the relief sculptures and the sites we visited but even more than these profound details, he stirred in me my own creativity in relationship to consciousness. From what I have observed, this is one of the gifts of this man…to ignite that part within the self that hungers to express.

His words and his interpretations of the ancient wisdom align with visions I had in my late adolescence: That we are here this time to live the truth of our spiritual knowledge.  It is like coming home…it is coming home.  It is time now to ground, not escape…time to be connected to the Mother and to the Universe, to the Oneness of all.  It is a time of transformation and we assist by bringing the light of wisdom into our day to day lives by expressing our joy, honoring our abilities and in so doing, healing  ourselves and contributing to a positive creation of the future.

So I have begun to paint my visions and experiences with the spirits of the Maya energy. These are personal but also hopefully universal in their resonance and vibration for transformation.

In essence I have been gently pushed from the nest. Now is my time…as my teacher has `said, “you are the ripe fruit on the tree. You are ready so do what you need to do.” This message is vitally simple yet highly significant. The time is now…consciousness is quickening.  It is the time of action expressed through our hearts.
