Maya Cosmic Institute

The Cosmic University of the Maya

Many of the Ancient Maya sites like Chichen Itzá, Uxmal and Palenque were built to be teaching facilities... universities for the Maya priests and priestesses. Chichen Itzá is a good example of this. Following is a quote from Miguel Angel Vergara Calleros’ recent book, “The Sacred Knowledge of the Maya”:

One site rises above the rest in Yucatan and that is the Archeological Ceremonial Site of Chichen-Itza, which carries the name of “THE COSMIC UNIVERSITY OF THE MAYA”. It is the city where disciples were educated to the highest levels of science, philosophy, and religion.

This knowledge was given to them directly within the Temples and the Pyramids, dedicated to Cosmic-Wisdom. These temples were known by the name “K’U” meaning “GOD-THE DIVINITY”.

The disciples were provided with the four levels of knowledge, science, art, philosophy and religion. These teachings aimed to make them Priest-Doctors who would heal the Spirit, the Soul and the Body; to make them Guardians of the Sky, calculating the movements of the stars so as to create their Sacred Calendars; to make them artists and philosophers who would enrich the emotions of the mind and the soul through their beautiful expressions of paintings, sculptures and poetry about nature, about life and about the transcending purpose of the human existence.

Today, The Maya Cosmic Institute at Casa K’in is not a building or any physical structure but a collection of Journeys, Conferences, Workshops, Ceremonies, and Special Events all focused on the teachings of the Maya Ancient Wisdom.

Miguel Angel Vergara is a gifted teacher who has made the study of the Maya Sacred Knowledge his life’s work. He brings the essence of this knowledge alive in his ceremonies, classes, workshops, and journeys. A full list of his programs can be found on the Calendar of Events.
